On February 8th, 2018, with The Honorable Lucie Lamarre, Associate Chief Justice of the Tax Court of Canada, The Honorable Martine L. Tremblay (Court of Quebec), Mtre André Larivière (Revenu Québec) and Mtre François Barette (Fasken), Paul Ryan delivered a lecture on the evolution and adaptation of the tax practice before the Tax Court of Canada and the Court of Quebec. The speakers discussed, among other things, the shared objectives of these two Courts, the process of assigning court records, the resolution of disputes, the expectations of each Court, the principle of judicial comity between them, and the powers of the Canadian Tax Court on matters of statutory interpretation within its areas of jurisdiction and costs.
